About
At the Collegiate Rugby Championship Invitational, held in Philadelphia in early June, American Rugby Management Group launched the Coaches Recruitment Program and Combine. The Program is designed to address several realities and needs:
- The vast majority of colleges do not have recruitment budgets
- College coaches at best may know a little about local or regional high school rugby athletes but nothing about the universe of potential applicants to their program nor any benchmarks of the type of athlete he/she may be
- High school rugby players do not know how playing rugby might assist them in admissions and financial aid. Most high school administrators don’t, either
- Parents are also in the dark when it comes to admissions support, financial aid or any specifics about an individual rugby program, ie., level of play, philosophy, schedules, medical attention
In an effort to continue to support the growth of rugby in America (15′s & 7′s), and to provide high school athletes and college coaches critical information about institutions and athletes, American Rugby Management Group, is expanding the Coaches Recruitment Program and Combines nationwide, beginning this September. This will allow all colleges and athletes the opportunity to get baseline results and college information from each other while avoiding the expense of traveling to a distant event or two.
Coaches can access, at an annual subscription rate of $500, all combine results from every participant across the USA. This clearly opens up the recruitment pool, as now coaches will have enough information to make contact with an athlete and determine further if the athlete is a fit for their University. Athletes will be charged a nominal fee for participation and will be able to review his/her individual results.
The location of Combines will rotate year to year as he high school pool replenishes every two years. The number of Recuitment Combine events will increase each year. Current combines scheduled are:
